Welcome to the Department of Materials and Metallurgical Engineering at IIT Palakkad, where we are committed to building a strong foundation in one of the most significant disciplines shaping the future of technology. Materials are central to every engineering innovation, from semiconductors driving modern electronics to advanced alloys in transportation, and from energy storage systems for renewable energy to biomaterials for healthcare applications. Our department aims to provide students with strong fundamentals in materials science and engineering while introducing them to emerging areas such as nanomaterials, biomaterials, energy materials, and sustainable materials engineering.
